Curly Silver Maple Burl Side Table

  • by

I found a small slab of a curly silver maple burl at Harvest Lumber Co. and decided to get it and figure out what to do with it. It was only 5/8″ thick so I had to be careful, but it was already planed and wide-belt-sanded which was great. It has live edges and beautiful figuring! I figured it’d be good for a side table. Now I just have to figure out where to actually put it in my house.

Tools Used

  • DeWalt DWE575 circular saw to clean up the 3 edges
  • DeWalt DCW210B orbital sander, sanded to 320-grit
  • DeWalt DCD791B drill/driver
  • Entropy Resins CCR slow-cure to fill in the knot, and fast-cure to fill in some of the cracks/voids
  • Odie’s Oil, 1 coat
  • 14″ hairpin legs from DIYhairpinlegs.com
